Busy bee again

Wow it’s been a long time since I last posted. Firstly, making the dress took a lot out of me. Secondly, my job was very full-on and left me little time for crafting, and gradually, my mojo slipped away. I left that job but the day I left, I found out a close friend of mine has a terminal illness. So I’ve felt too depressed and anxious to stitch or paint.

However, I recently found out that Noro Magazine were doing a Knit-Along blanket. I really like Noro yarns, I’ve used them in my work previously . I love the look of the squares that are being released every month, so I decided to take part. I have no idea what I’d do with the blanket. I’m mainly trying to do it for my mental health.

The trouble is, Noro yarn is very expensive. The cost of the yarn needed to make the blanket is at least £150, and they are in very limited supply in the UK. I ended up spending about £60 ordering some from the US, and it turned out it was the wrong weight of Noro 😦 Hopefully I’ll have a use for those in the future. But I’m enjoying making the blanket from the yarn I’ve received so far. I’ve ordered most of the yarn I need but a lot of it is waiting to be delivered due to the postal strike, which I support 100%.

A long time ago, I decided I was going to make my own knitting needle pouch, using sewing pattern Simplicity 1079. Last week I had a fun dig through my stash of fabric and managed to find some to use. And then I had to buy all the notions; the hook and loop, bias binder, button, fusible fleece, etc etc, so that has cost me money too. But I’m enjoying it.

Sewing-wise, all I’ve done so far is hemmed the bottom of the pocket. I’m doing it slow and steady, not over-exerting myself.

I’m also trying to finish crocheting a Christmas present I was going to give last Christmas but ran out of time. I’ve still got a lot to do on it.

I’ll post again maybe after Christmas or in the New Year. Hope everyone reading this has a nice Christmas!
