Happy Twixmas everyone! I hope you’ve all had and continue to have a good Christmas.
Now that the day has come and gone, I think I can safely reveal what I was doing that colourwork for. It was of course a Christmas present, for my little niece.

It’s the blanket for this crazy-looking llama! The pattern is from issue 114 of Knitting & Crochet magazine UK. I’ve had that copy for a year at least, and was searching everywhere for something to make and there it was in one of my magazine tubs! I’m pleased with how the colourwork turned out, and I’m proud I managed to make the llama stand up on its own. I stuffed the legs really well and was a bit looser with stuffing the body so it was bottom heavy.
I also had disappointment and frustration as just 10 days before Christmas I spotted the perfect present to crochet for someone else by Zen Knit Toys on my Instagram. I went out and bought the extra yarn I needed and then proceeded to burn the candle at both ends trying to get it finished. It’s a huge project but I thought I might be able to do it but I couldn’t. I got about two-thirds of the way finished on Christmas Eve and then I lost one of my hooks and realised it wasn’t going to happen. Boooo! However, I have now discovered that I can actually crochet on the bus! I get terrible travel sickness so I had no idea this was possible until now because I had to get those stitches done. So that is a win. I think though for the next few weeks at least I will not be rushing any new projects and I will stick to listening to music on the bus! And hopefully that project will still be good for next Christmas so I can pick it up again for then.
One of my friends very kindly got me a gift card for TK Maxx for Christmas. I spent most of it today and amongst other things, I bought this Zandra Rhodes notebook:

Isn’t it lovely? Only £4.99. I’ve already started writing my dreams and schemes in it. Happy Twixmas to me!
My Zandra Rhodes socks got sidelined while I tried to do that massive crochet project. I’m still only about a third of the way through my first sock! I will get back to them soon though.
And finally, a watercolour! I was going to do a bit more painting on this but I left it for a while and decided just to add some black pen today and call it finished. This is my cat again, the housebound forest creature! Sadly the paper got a bit bent while I was rummaging around my bedroom wrapping presents and such, but it’s only for me anyway!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good what’s left of the festive season. I’m going to get back to my long-neglected cross stitch and have a cup of tea. Did anyone else have mad panics/frustration/disappointment with their Christmas projects?
